The voice nav on My Ford Touch sucks - it doesn't understand very well and often does stupid stuff ("Choose 1 for Main Street NE or 2 for Main Street SE" - then you choose 2 and it says "Street does not exist"). So I use an app "Send To Car" that uses Mapquest's API to send the destination to the nav system, which works fine once you actually get the address into the system.

I will use Waze on longer trips but I don't have a phone mount so I mainly just listen for voice warnings.

I found myself in Newport Beach today trying to use the Lexus NAV system in my wife's car but ended up using her Galaxy S6 instead. So much faster and you can just talk to it. Really easy to use. I just said Newport Beach Ducati and it came right up, tapped directions and BAM.

Car systems are archaic in comparison.

I like her NAV system for showing traffic and as an easy map to refer to while driving but if I want to look something up the phone works so much better.

Installed a Pioneer AVIC Z110BT (@ Z150BH) back in 2009 (replaced the factory nav).
Mainly use it for videos, BT calls and accessing 160GB of MP3s via VR, but the nav function comes in handy when I'm going somewhere unfamiliar.

Too cheap to pay for a data plan on the phone :p

I have an 8.4 inch screen and GPS NAV in my 2012 Ford Focus and I use it as a moving map. When I need to navigate to a specific address I use Google Maps on my phone/tablet. Late last year Ford sent me a notice about a map update for my NAV system but they wanted over $100 for it so I decided against it. Google Maps is up to date and I don't have to pay stupid money for it.

the in car unit that came in my wifes minivan works fine(dodge...so garmin)

I use my phone in my truck if I need it

before our last garmin broke, it had lifetime free traffic and it was awesome

we have traffic on this one and its pretty decent....not sure if its going to run out soon, though

Too lazy to pull out my phone + the screen is too small for my liking so I use the car Navi.

I've been debating getting nav in my next car. I just don't think I'd ever use it...useful to see everyone's responses!

Use a Garmin for 2-3 longer trips we take each year, otherwise my phone. Not a fan of built-in Nav units.

Not to mention the ridiculous 'tax' to update those silly built-in nav units every year. I'm sorry, but a couple hundred bucks a year to update an already over-priced stereo is ludicrous to me...I don't consider myself cheap either.

In dash for me. I used to use a decent garmin which was fine, but I don't want to futz around with cables, batteries, etc for the GPS. I'd rather just jump in my car and go. Plus the bigger screen is more useful IMHO.

I've had it in my previous 2 cars... used it maybe twice. I just hate it when you get a better looking display/layout with nav then without.

the handful of times I need nav, I have my phone or nuvi with lifetime maps.
