I use an agent... my family has been with this agent's office since it opened... in the 60s, IIRC. He's great. :)

Agent,
Takes care of making sure I have the best rates and answers my questions w/out me having to RTFM.

USAA here. I don't think they even HAVE agents. You just call them.

While I think they are called an "agent" It's just whoever is in the office when we call. Small office though, only like, 4 or 5 people, not a huge callcenter or anything.

When I signed up, I called the 1-800 call center number and chose my plan. Then they assigned me to a local agent that happens to me a block up the street. When I needed renter's insurance, I just gave them a call and walked over to the office. It was quite convenient.

No agent. I would like to get a local State Farm or Allstate agent, but everytime I ask for rates, they have much higher rates than my current insurance company.

do you guys think that insurance agents will be phased out ever? will most of you always prefer to have an agent?

agent. i keep all of my insurance with farm bureau, my parents have known the guy for at least 15 years, he never pressures us about anything, and does the best he can to do all he can for us when we need to file a claim.
