i got mine for free through some stupid shipping mistake at my dads work that they let them keep 70 laptops for some reason . i within 2 weeks sold off my 1000mhz athlon desktop, and i'm not sure i'll ever go back to having a desktop only, as these just rule. i also switched to trackball and well i us my laptop on top of my bed.

my specs are in my sig but i think most of use could easily live with a:

p3-700
256mb ram
10 gig hard drive, and external 40 gig firewire
4x cdrw,
13.3 inch tft

yes it has a crappy 4mb savage ix video card but it can run emperor and counterstrike so i'm ok with it. its an hp xh216 btw. Not to mention its super quiet, and now that i dont have a computer geek fully loaded system, the girls seem to think of me as more normal. plus people like laptops for some reason, they seem so cool or something.


i went to best buy and saw the new hp n5470 and well that is impressive. if the video card were a geforce2go it would be perfect.

it was a athlon4 1 ghz, with 20 gigs, a 15.1 inch tft, with a trident bladexp 8mb (in the tnt2 ultra/ geforce sdr range i'd say) 8xdvd/ cdrw combo drive. $2000. laptops have come a long way. the new dell inspirons with geforce2go are pretty good but like $3000 though.
