I drive with my left hand most of the time. My right hand is on the shifter. If I won't need to change gears for a while, or road conditions are poor, then I'll use both hands on the wheel.

for some reason, the Maxima inspires me to use my knee or both knees to keep the wheel straight.

why would you need to have both hands on the steering wheel on the highway? where the fvck is the wheel going to go?

I pretty much drive with my hands constantly at 9 & 3... habit from autoXing. It's kinda hard to execute proper car control without good hand placement, which is why I use both hands in traffic just in case I need to avoid some jerkwad.

If it's a traffic jam or I'm doing nothing but going straight... I usually rest my other hand on the gearshift.

Plus, I tend to push the car a tad when I drive since it's fun... but never anywhere close to endangering those around me. I do my truly crazy driving at the track.

I use my knees to drive and turn corners. With my hands, I'm either having a full course meal or reading a book.

NEVER use two hands. Cruising, one hand is on the handbrake handle. Driving around the city, one hand is on the shifter. Drifting, one hand is on the wheel, one on the shifter ;).

Do you use 2 hands while driving? I never have 2 hands on the wheel unless it's incredibly bad driving conditions or something really weird is going on. So when talking on the phone or not, I always only have 1 hand on the wheel...

What about you?

not on the highway.

Hahahahahahahaha!!!! Stop posting.

I usually just have a palm on the wheel, unless I'm turning (I find I need two hands to turn in my Jeep sometimes).

Mostly I use one hand on the wheel and one on the shifter (in city driving). Outside the city, mostly one hand on the wheel. However, at corners I use both hands on the wheel - and even more so in tight spaces.
Thanks for power shifting :D

Like so, 90% of the time. We just did this!

No, it's NOT because they need two hands on the wheel, it's because they're so oblivious to what's going on around them. Just the other day, while cruising in the right lane of the freeway, I came upon a truck going right at the speed limit in the left lane. One car after another came up behind it, waited for them to pull to the right lane, then passed it using the right lane when the driver failed to move right. I finally passed it on the right also (all of 5MPH over the limit). Of course, it was some ditz on her GD cell phone. This is typical.

none of the options apply to me. I use two hands whenever I feel like it. Usually when I'm tired of only using one hand. Maybe 10% of the time. I usually drive like Ornery. Can't stand the "one hand at 12 o'clock" position that so many people utilize. It's uncomfortable and I have less control.

I think that the other problem is that people who are talking on cell phones while driving aren't paying as much attention to the road. Headsets eliminate some of the problem by freeing up your hands. However, I've watched people on cell phones back into other vehicles in parking lots and such simply because they weren't paying enough attention to what was going on around them.

BTW, I usually use only one hand on the wheel, but require two if I'm going slow (I don't have power steering) or in dangerous conditions.

*EDIT: Sorry, this is just a repeat of what Ornery already posted.
