its not all fake, some of those moves you cant really fake. not to say i like wrestling, i can hardly ever watch it. its entertaining sometimes. i just hate how the entire show is all planned out before hand.
Uh, it is scripted and chorreographed like any form of entertainment, like those Chinese Jet Li/Jackie Chan type movies, or any other sitcom/movie/play type of setting.
However in wrestling things are done in front of a live audience, so what you see is what you get, meaning there's no camera cuts, scene editing, and whatnot.
Some of the things they do is real. Some of it isnt...like they're not actually punching each other...and it's not real kicking and such. But the body slams and so on are real. It doesnt hurt that much though--the ring sits on a HUGE spring...allows for the shock.
And beyond that, most of the wrestling stuff is pre-planned...
You actually have to ask that? Of course, it's real! I mean consider the fact that they get right up after taking a 'body slam' and they rarely draw blood despite the 'pounding' they take... just like real life!
it may be scripted and as much as possible done to avoid injury, but a body slam still consists of 1 300+ lb man picking up another 300+ lb man and dropping him from about 6 feet.
Once I saw a show on tv that talked about how fake WWF wrestling is. Like eLiu said, the ring is on springs so that absorbs a lot of the shock when someone is slammed. Also, they place microphones under the ring and hook them up to speakers around the arena, so when someone is slammed the sound is magnified and goes echoing throughout the arena. The moves are real, but they train the wrestlers how to take the falls and shots so they're not nearly as painful as they look. In the rare instance when they do draw blood, that's usually set up also. They showed a clip of one guy that was leaned over the ropes wincing in pain, and if you looked close enough you could see him cut himself above the eye with a razor blade.
yeah its scripted, made to avoid injury, and FAKE, but some of it you know had HAD to hurt... have you seen those matches when someone on a 20 foot ladder in the edge of the ring do a flip onto someone outside while that person is on 4 tables?? there is PAIN goin on
totally fake and it's not even done well.. i catched some of the crap on mtv tonight and uh, its pretty obvious the punches don't connect at all .. what a joke.

As people have said the punches and kicks are BS... they stomp the ring to make noise and just tap the guy... but the suplexes and lifting the guys above their heads hurts... oh and have you ever actually tried some of the moves like the Torture Rack @ home? It hurts like a BI+CH!!! It's the specific wrestler's "special move" that ususally hurts...
YOU ARE ALL WRONG, IM FROM TEXAS AND I KNOW ITS REAL
lol just playing.
that stuff is just about as fake as you can get. it would be way beyond the limits of endurance to get pounded for like 20 min like that, and even then you would be so blood there's no way you could be shown on tv.
It's partially real, it's partially fake. Yes, its scripted... they exaggerate the hits, etc. But they do take a beating. You trust your life on someone doing a "fake" back breaker or a some kind of flip on you. Even if it is padded, it'll still hurt... Some stuff you can't fake. Body slam on thumbtacks (100% real), or how about Owen Heart dying. (100% real) Ever wonder why wrestlers are gone for a long time only to come back? Because they are having reconstructive surgery.
I think it is definitely fake.
Ever saw those wrestlers on tour and they posed together, huggging
one another for photographers...and then next thing they are fighting against one another on the stage and then they were on a same coach traveling the city and having lunch on the same table?
They practice those stunts and learn how to take hits, that make the show exciting...IMHO...Now if anyone can tell me if Jerry Springer is for real...
