yep, they are justifiably in risk management mode. The lander is designed to last for months so they have time for caution.

Yes, I hope so that?s for sure.

I was watching a press conference on CSPAN last night and they said that even if worst case they could even have the rover roll over the "bags" not that it would be the choice they would prefer however.

I can understand them being so cautious, its 1 million miles away and cost millions of dollars, if I were the guy making the calls I sure as hell would make sure I went with the safest bet.

In the large pic, you can see the tread marks in the dust. I was surprised at how fine that dust was.

I know Mars has wind, so I expected it to be firmer and rockier.
