Some guy FoxNews just called in and said he thinks we should reinstate the draft before any offensive in Iraq.

What do ya'll think?

No. There are already enough people out there that join the military.

So true, and if there is a draft(I don't see why there would be) It better be called a war and declare a war.

We're not at war, dude. We're hunting. There's a slight difference. And, since we're not at war, there will be no draft.

Yeah, we need to thin out all these stupid young kids. Wait, whose going to pay for our Social Security if they all die on the killing fields. Hmm what a condumdrum!!!

Unlikely, we have reserves for that. It would need to be a lot bigger conflict for a draft.

Man look at all these pussies. You don't know what pressure is until your Draft Lottery number is under 100 during time of war!

I also hope we don't need to institute a draft again, but war was never officially declared during Nam either.

I have no problems with going to war if I'm drafted. I would hope thought that it would for a bigger war than just Iraq though.

I was referring to the upcoming offensive on Iraq, my apologies.

Then why isn't it being called the "Police Action on Terrorism".

FYI: We never "declared war" on Vietnam either, but that one lasted nine years and killed tens of thousands of Americans.

Im not a military expert but Im pretty sure reserves would be called up, especially if the iraq offensive inches toward the higher troops estimate of 250,000. But I dont see a draft being needed. Not unless we have trouble over there AND we are forced to fight another conventional war (with who?!) somewhere else.

Well I'm getting to the point where I'm too old, 32, to be drafted but if I were needed I would go in an instant. Tried to join the USMC back in 92 but due to some medical problems I couldn't. You wimps that are scared to death of being drafted, which will never happen, make me sick. Think of all those that have gone before you and served this country so that you can enjoy the freedoms you have today. They fought and died in order to keep us all free and those of you that think being asked to defend your country is an outrageous thing need to be stripped of your citizenship and sent packing.

I spent nearly 2 1/2 years in Oklahoma thanks to the USAF. On balance living in a tent in the Middle East was not bad by comparison!

On top of that it will help alleviate the over crowding situation here in Ca.

I wonder how many of these kiddies who voted against the draft in the Poll have parents who are immigrants?

250,000 is the most they think they'll need (and that number is extremely liberal considering last time)

250k is a drop in the bucket when you consider the 4 services combined--active and reserve

Honestly, I don't think we'll make that mistake again. A lot of George W. jokes can be made, but in all seriousness I don't think it's going to be anything like that again.

yeah good that you mentioned that to these morons who show this as a war....

Definition of War : A state of open, armed, often prolonged conflict carried on between nations, states, or parties.

Where is the other nation, the war is said to be still going on....are we still at conflict with afghanistan??....or is it the taliban...are we at war with taliban...looks like we seem to be hunting the talibans at ease.....those republican b@stards cannot propose a drafting scheme without taking a vote from the people. The result of the vote above says it all.
