In the morning, we'd be driving in his work truck on the way to the job site and see one of those "will work for food" panhandlers. He would also offer them a job on the spot -- $8/hr., under the table, full day's work, and paid in full at the end of the day. Not one, I mean literally not one of them, would ever take him up on his offer.

Here is some older imperical data for just one city. If you will note that starvation isn't on the list of deaths. Drug and alcohol abuse top thoes charts. So in reality it boils down to complete lack of personal responsibility.

If you do a quick search on this topic you will see that mabey you you mean that nearly 33 million people in the country are nearing, at or below the poverty line. The demand on food resources in shelters and other social assistance programs have risen due to this. But people arn't dieing because they are starving.
Poverty for a family of 4 is around 15K in income per year.
Try to blame it on that evil evil govt all you want.

This is the only thing I've said in this thread regarding my position on Socialized Food:

Definately not. There are many bloated government "sacred cows" I would like to see eliminated.

I'm asking for proof from MySOS about these people dropping dead in the streets from hunger. Thus far the only things he's ponied up are a couple of "stories" about people he's heard about dropping dead and that the government is covering these facts up.

Yes, I will agree that most homeless follow your guidelines. However you cannot guarantee that it is beyond any shadow of a doubt that 100% of them do. You cannot take your life experience for facts that apply to everything.

It is possible for a person to make preposterous assertions and not provide any proof. He does not give any because either he knows he is full of sh!t or is naïve enough to believe whatever socialist garbage he has been fed. The vague statement about a vast government conspiracy to cover up these "problems" is also not a good sign.

That's one thing I have noticed. Those of us who struggled in some form or fashion tend to be more independent and more opposed to government handouts.

No, but I spent 4 years in the Army Infantry as a TOW gunner. That's how I got on my feet.
