POP! I try to avoid saying it completely and say soft drink. Soda is gay-sounding.

I spnt my childhood in Texas, and say coke for everything. If someone asks what particular brand I want, I'll get specific. But if I'm going to the store, I'll say that I'm going to buy some cokes. And I may come back with Pepsi and Mountain Dew.

As for the Western PA thing, my wife is from Western PA, and she too has said something about how pop originated there. I thought she made it up, until I read this poll. What is it with Western PA'ers being so egocentric? Things were invented in other parts of the country. I think they say the Big Mac and the Banana Split were invented there too. And many other things I can't think of right now.

One thing I will give them is that they breed good QBs: Dan Marino, Johnny Unitas, George Blanda, Jim Kelly, Joe Namath, Joe Montana.

Occasionally, you may hear "soda" or "soft drink" used, although, if you say "pop" or "soda pop", we will just look at you funny and wonder what youre talking about.

You may want to update this poll.
