They are different things.

Common sense would be not stepping out into traffic at rush-hour or not sticking your finger into a power outlet.

Common knowledge would be that the Atlantic Ocean is on the east coast and the Pacific Ocean is on the west.

um, they are 2 different things.

i probably use common sense more often, cause there are more situations in which it can be used.
