[POLL] - do you prefer your female companion to be tech-geeky ?

No Lifer
some like girly girls while others find it cool their SO knows about tech stuff.

I realize this is a tech forum so the answers may be skewed... or maybe not.

Personally, my wife works as an IT Admin (along with her manager) so she does all the work for about 70 users but when she gets home... she doesn't even touch a computer... I actually prefer her to be a girly-girl than someone who talks tech.

Most of the girls that I talk tech to, it goes *way* over their head, so I simply avoid it. I would actually prefer a girlie girl that is smart enough to take care of her own tech problems. I don't know if I'd like to discuss my job (tech) or a SO's job (tech) after working all day with it. I find whenever conversation sways to tech, academics, or your job then you have nothing else to talk about.

i always thought i would want a techy girl, but ive come to realize that that isnt too important - as long as there is other common ground. and, while it can be annoying at times, i do like the girlyness of girls. she just needs to be smart, be it techy stuff, book smart, or even just with writing or art. they have to be a little off kilter to be able to appreciate me 🙂

Nope. My fiancee is very artsy, the opposite of me. If we were both into the exact same things, it would be hard to learn from one another.

My wife knows a little bit about techy things..It drives me up the wall because she always has to argue about who is right.

no, because if she knew about stuff then she would know how much it costs which would mean I couldn't tell her fibs about how this and that was only this much anymore.

No. As long as they are willing to wear a shirt that says "I  my geek", that's fine by me. 😀

I think I have a best of both worlds. My wife is a musician but is very intelligent and interested in tech stuff. So I can learn from her and she actually does want to hear about tech stuff.

I still can't bring up any of my research as it's way over just about everyone's head, but I can live with that. It's good to get away too.

You're forgetting that each time a person comes into the thread it counts as a view. I've come into it at least four times...and only get one vote....

No I didn't forget that... but I thought only the OPs usually come in more than twice.

No, but i would like my wife to understand my desire for tech-geeky equipment and playing games.

But I am in luck, she started playing WoW during the last two weeks and she enjoyed it enough to encourage me to buy two copies of the game and two accounts so we can play online together.

Heck no...i follow up on most of my posts....if anyone replies to me specifically....

It used to be that I wanted a geek chick.

I now realize how many egotistical assholes I work with and go to school with that I don't really want that in a woman.
Chances are a "geek chick" would be egotistical or just weird and lame (reads lame books, emo glasses, "hacks html", has a blog, can install PCI cards and thinks they are elite--I already know a dozen of these type of girls).

There are no Angelina Jolie "Acidburn" in this world...quit dreaming 😛

it would be great if she were but the lack of tech-geekiness wouldn't turn me away.

my wife is a developer/IT project manager so we talk shop all the time at home, mostly to complain about stupid people we have to deal with every day.

i have my buddies to talk tech-geek with.

EDIT: and she can be VERY girly girl when she wants to be.

my only tech-savvy requirements for a girl would be:

1. smart enough not to install all those spyware/pop up programs
2. smart enough not to open email attachments from random senders
3. smart enough not to forward me any email that promises a check from bill gates

She also has to recognize that check engine lights are bad things, and that their SOs need toys and sex the same way they need food and water.
