Poll - Do you prefer using mouse+keyboard or joystick when gaming?

Just wondering what everyone uses when you playing their games.

Joystick or mouse=keyboard

Also, does anyone think the optical mouse has any benefit when it comes to gaming and why?

i like mouse keyboard for most games and gamepad when emulating
the only point i see in a joystick would be maybe mechwarrior (i think mouse + keyboard works just as well) or a flight sim/ shooter.

i like an optical mouse because it needs no pad and it feels more precise to me but that might be a placebo effect of the optical mouse i would never use a normal mouse again tho

depends on what I am playing

racing game? got to have a wheel
flying game? got to have a joystick
emulators? got to have a gamepad
everything else I use the keyboard and mouse

I prefer a mouse/keyboard combo when playing most of the games I play: FPS, RPGs, etc. It's very difficult to play FPS using a gamepad, although I beat all the classics, Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, Dark Forces, and Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight with my Gravis Gamepad. Not to metion X-Wing and TIE Fighter. I eventually made the switch to mouse/keyabord when games stopped supporting the gamepad, but I still have one for games like Jazz Jackrabbit 2 (actually, I think I have it ONLY for that game). I did pick up a Saitek X36 joystick and throttle for Descent3 and X-Wing Alliance, and that setup rocks.

for fps games, there is no substitute for a mouse/keyboard. you simply can't do well with a gamepad or joystick

as i have no joystick, i use keyboard/mouse for every other game too.

THPS2---Gamepad
Flight sims/MW----joystick/throttle(someday)

Mouse & keyboard for all games expect racing which I use a gamepad.
