According to this site:
http://www.tgdaily.com/content/view/31530/113/

28% of homes have an HDTV in them. I'm sure AT will be higher but let's see...

Washington (DC) - More than a quarter of US households now own a high definition TV set, according to the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA).

Approximately 35 million HDTVs are in American homes today, according to the trade group, and another 16 million are expected to be added to the tally by the end of 2007.

CEA, which is responsible for putting together he Consumer Electronics Show (CES), says that 86% of those with a hi-def set are "highly satisfied" with their TV.

Last year, Frank N. Magid Associates reported that only about 15% of households had an HDTV, but projected that number would climb rapidly.

I don't even have a regular tv. I just about bought a tv tuner a couple of days ago, but decided food was more important.

That's still pretty good. If you get that over the air you can get a bunch added by getting cable or satallite.

I get about 10 channels over QAM, and I think it is 100% worth it.

Not yet. HDTV prices are too high and my television/DVD watching isn't that high on my priority list. Things may change in a few years, but for now...it's just not worth it to me.

nope, no space in my current apartment for a good one, and I see zero point in buying one less than 40"

everything i watch, which isnt much is SD. kids, work, working on house, working on apprenticeship, and my 1/10 scale nitro car take up my time, and in my opinion, its more rewarding then seeing grass on DiscoveryHD when i can go outside and cut my own. not only do i get to see it for free in HD, i can smell and touch it also. Real Life > HD

Not if you shop around.

I just paid $1440 for a Panasonic 50" plasma, which is comparable for what I paid for my 36" CRT Sony Wega 7 years ago (I think I paid $1250).
That just puts into perspective how cheap HDTV's and plasmas have gotten.
