Treat that 4M nice & it will last you forever.

Too bad it's not a 4M+, that would make it even sweeter.

I have a 4+ (4M+ minus the PS SIMM), got it with a 100 meg jetdirect + 22 MB RAM + a toner cartridge for $50. It needs a fuser (occasionally puts black marks on the edges of pages), but other than that it's been great. I can pick up a fuser on ebay for $50 & put it in myself, I fully expect to get another 250K+ pages out of it.

No kidding. I checked the page count on my work printer - 900k prints! Only had the fuser changed once. It used to be the department printer but now its just mine.

What's the life expectancy of the drum?

I have a Brother Multifunction thing and the life expectancy of the drum is 20,000 pages and each drum is about $100.

HP LaserJet 6L - got it from a client who didn't use it anymore. I've had it for about a year, and haven't had to replace the toner yet 😀

No one's mentioned the Lexmark E210?

It was in hot deals a couple times about 2 years ago. Got it for like $60AR I believe.

I absolutely love the thing. Haven't printed many pages on it.

Wonder what the world record is for most pages printed on a printer. Gotta be out there somewhere 😛

I've never owned an inkjet printer. I hate inkjet-printed text. I currently own a Samsung ML-1210.

But I love your speakers, btw.. I have the same ones... they kick azz, don't they?

🙂

Yup, and they were purchased using the BB replacement plan. Too sweet.

canon image class 1100 printer/fax/copier🙂 works great

hp 1100 refurb i got off ebay for 75 dollars works quite well too.

gotta love lasers cost per page, ability to print on sh*t paper and look crisper then a top quality inkjet on uber paper🙂 not to mention on good ones many parts are replaceble.

btw, i thought the drum was part of the cartridge u replace each time?

In most consumer level printers that is the case, but there are some exceptions.

There's nothing that says they HAVE to be together, & it does allow you to replace just the failed part rather than a combined cartridge.

Yes, it does, doesn't it? Hope it serves you well!!!

Myself..........a Samsung ML-1210 (year or so old and working like a champ!) and a Brother HL-1440 (still NIB.)

Mita DP-570 with 10 meg of ram, which runs under WinXP with/as an HP LJ4Si. Yep, I'm using the Microsoft LaserJet 4Si drivers. Apparently, when I first got it, Mita was going to release some native PCL6 drivers for it, but the ones they had were buggy and I had real issues under Win2K (very very slow, garbled texts, etc). I called Mita tech support and after a half hour the tech says to try the HP LaserJet 4Si drivers, since the print engine in the DP-570 is the same or at least is fully compatible. Works like a charm ever since.

Those things are rock-solid! My family used one from 1991 - 2000, and NEVER had to replace the toner. Probably 6-7 thousand pages came out of that printer. We eventually got rid of it b/c there wasn't enough memory in it.
