I think the Akira soundtrack would drive me nuts trying to sleep...

I used to turn the radio over to NPR and listen to some classical music to fall asleep. But now that I don't have a radio, I just listen to the atonal whine of my computer fans.

Not usually.

But on the rare occasion I do, it HAS to be classical or some type of instrumental music.

If there is singing, I can NOT fall asleep to it.

But strangely enough, I CAN fall asleep to the TV going.

yeah, it's weird.. during the day i take naps sometimes with someone playing music, or the tv on, or lots of noise going on around me, and even some lights on.. but at night i cannot fall asleep in similar situations.. can't sleep with any music on

Yup, internet techno stations. Nothing like 32kb\s streaming audio on your Audigy 2 and Creative Gigaworks. :D

I automatically actively listen to music in an almost analytical way...so no, I turn it off if I want to turn my mind off.

I always have music on when I sleep.... fills the silence and lets me drift away. I'll fall asleep to anything from techno to death metal... never remember the exact song I was listening to when I drifted off though.
