Simple Question, do you like bands such as Slipknot, Mudvayne, etc.? Personally I can't stand them. I just can't seem to grasp the music behind it, and quite frankly I think the whole screaming/yelling/making your voice sound like a monster bit is borderline retarded.

Edit: Ok, I changed the title because people didn't think the bands I listed (Slipknot, Mudvayne, Disturbed, etc.) represented the genre. I'm talking about any hardcore rock here.

Edit2: Ok, people are saying they aren't goth either. With my limited knowledge about the subject I just based it off of what the goth kids I know listen to. I guess now the question is hardcore metal? Not sure if that's the correct terminology either, but you should be able to figure out what I'm talking about.

I don't mind them. There are much better bands in the metal genre but they're decent at times. Sometimes they're as media-produced as some of the pop singers though so you can't really be too sure....

Depends on the band, Mudvayne is the only somewhat talented band in that list.

Uh, excuse me? Disturbed is not even in the same category as Slipknot or Godsmack. "Blood drinking wearing masks" hardly describes them.

I agree with you. I have a friend who is really into the hardcore music stuff. It drives me crazy...

I like some but not all, it depends on the lyrics, some of the bands are really poetic and honest... listen to hopesfall, not sure if they would fit in goth type.

I think it's a bit corny, but I think it's still better than rap. That whole hip hop/thug lifestyle is not for me. I never understood why people think it's cool to act deviant, and sit slouched over in your car wearing a golf hat.

Disturbed and Godsmack are just plain rock. I wouldn't call them goth necessarily. I like those bands. Most bands that have the funky costumes and stuff (except Kiss) don't impress me.

I prefer old school gothic/industrial, from back when bands had talent:

Bauhaus
Skinny Puppy
Moev
A Split Second
Front242
Clan of Xymox

Etc...

There are only two bands that have pulled off the cheesy crap well (IMHO) : KISS and Gwar

The rest do nothing for me, and I consider myself a metal fan.

Oh, and Hopesfall are great!

To be honest I'd rather listen to some rap than this sh!t. Some of the underground rappers like Paul Wall sound fairly decent. I have yet to hear one goth metal band that sounded anything other than corny.

Gotta love Mudvayne, but then again they're from my home town (Peoria, IL), and I like Slipknot too, and they just happen to hail from an hour and a half from me (Des Moines, IA). I just like that type of music. Not in it for the lyrics, just the insane drums and bass and all out agressive sound they put out. In all honestly, I like the watered down slipknot AKA Stour Sour much better.

I don't know how they are considered "goth" though.

Would Rob Zombie/White Zombie fit into this? I like them, but not Slipknot and those other freak shows.

Seen slipknot live (for free mind you :)). They were boring frankly put. Sounded just like the album.... a bit dull most the time.

The only thing they'd seem to say is "shut the f**k up". Oh wow.... My uncle paid £25 for them to tell me to STFU???

The cover bands were good, such as American Head Charge :)

I don't know if I would lump Slipknot in with Disturbed or Godsmack.

I don't like any of them, but not for any of the reason that you seem to dislike them.

I didn't take a liking to Mudvayne, but slipknot's always been awesome for getting my blood pumped at the track meets. Other than that, i don't listen to them on my leisure, not as much anymore.
