I was just looking at the dry erase board where someone erased my very cool tangent line art to put up a schedule for an editorial we have on our radio stations.

The editorials are stupid, as are the people who do them. I wouldn't sit through 1:30-2:30 of that if I were a listener.

So my question is, do you like editorials on the radio/TV/in the newspaper/etc?

No. I really don't like them at all to tell you the thruth. I really don't understand why anyone would want to read them.

(some sports editorials I'll read actually...but that is few and far between and i'd have to be pretty bored)

I think it's a waste of time. I can see getting the message out, but I think there are better ways. Most of our editorials are about stupid or irrelevant things like the election in California. Here's a hint: Our station doesn't have a 3000 mile radius. No one who lives here can vote in California. It doesn't have any effect on our lives.

I hear that. I guess my problem with them is they are always bitching about something. That and they mostly deal with politics which i have NO interest in.

Considering I am an editorial page editor and a member of an editorial board, yes. ;)

If you have any questions about editorials, I might be able to answer them.

I will add that editorials often serve to provide information that is not appropriate to put into news articles because it will make them sound biased even when they are not.

In a perfect world, news articles would contain 100% of the information people need to form a perfect opinion of their own. In the real world, people look at editorials for a "condensed" version of the "News+"

It depends on who writes the editorial really. Sometimes I like reading them, but we don't get a paper delivered. The only time I read a paper is when I go out and buy one off the stand/bookstore.

Let me give you another example. We had a guy who said that "virtually all people 18-25 will be in an accident due to carelessness".

I'm sorry, but with my superior vision and reflexes, I'd say I'm a hell of a lot safer than some grumpy 80 year old.

I guess my main problem is that music radio should be about music, not someone's uniformed, and absolutely meaningless opinion.

I come here for those. :)
