Cubes are OK, the full height ones are cool 'cause you can get away with most anything.

i work with one other guy. we have a huge office all to ourselves (with a door and everything!)

...but after a few months we got really tired of being able to see each other so we kinda of divided the office into two "cubes" using some surplus furniture and shelving....now we at least have a little privacy.

maybe the cube idea as a whole isn't that bad.....

Cube farms are ok, but I like my office :)
Cubes work great when you're programming and you need to talk to someone close by without running down the hall every so often.

When I worked at Intel with my own cube, I liked it. Working here, with four to a "quad," I don't really like it.

I don't have a cubicle (hell, I don't even have an office job), but I really like those private little study carrels they've got at the Undergraduate Library here... :)

Working in support, cubes are much better than offices. I can just poke my head up over the walls to get input from my coworkers on tough support issues.

Mine has windows on it, and my computer faces outwards, so anyone who walks by gets a nice big fat view of everything on my screen. Oh, did I mention I sit right in front of the door, so I'm the first thing people see when they come in? Hooray for me.

Haven't worked in a cubicle yet but I know one thing for sure, working out of my office beats working working out of the server closet anyday.

Only down side is that I have to share it with extthe other sys admin here. Kinda sucks when you want to play games discreetly .

oh yea, i have a quad, but only one other person. i only use 1/4 of the space, but it is nice to have extra room. not that i do anything with the room... it's just nice to know it's there.

Ode to my cubicle

But soft, what light through yonder window breaks
It is the sun, and I am a moron for being at work so early.

But how could I stay away from my cubicle
Truly thou art everything to me
Sweet cubicle
You begin my rhapsody

Thy grey carpeted walls
Beautiful to behold
Thy cluttered desk
Glories to unfold

At night I lay
And dream of you
Ah! I can lie no more
No more untruths can I spew!

I hate you stinking cubicle
You with grimy carpeted wall
Ghastly cubicle
No more hold me in your thrall

Each day I come
Early to the job
Sitting every day
Makes me want to sob

To work with seeming idiots
Who seem incapable of thought
Makes my petty labouring
Seem to be for naught

At the end though
I'll slave and slave away
Because we all know
Cash doth rule the day

All those optimists
Who say money won't buy you happiness.
Should be covered in honey and thrown into a pit of rabid financial analysts

And that's all I have to say about that.

You and me both, amdskip - but my current office is the car - I work at my school's Department of Public Safety doing vehicle patrols!

I would rather have a cubicle than having a desk in the open(which is what i have now.) I like the fact that you could have SOME privacy anyways

I like my cubicle - everything within reach, just enough privacy to nef at ATOT without the boss man seeing everything. :)

At this same job I started with a corner office with 15ft ceilings and wood floors. Then I moved to a building with a smaller, interior office with no windows and 8ft ceilings. Now I work in a grey 7x7 cube. They keep paying me more though.

Edit: It's really hard to close the door and take off pants in a cubicle.
