POLL: Do you like Classical Music?

I used to play Tchaikovsky's 1812 very loud when I was in school. Living in a coed dorm, my neighbor was a girl who would play the same rap song over and over for everyone in the hallway to hear. However many times I've told her to turn the volume down she would always forget. So... all I can say is that the cannons did wonders. I would sometimes hear cheers from others in the hall when she turned off her stereo.

Don't play violin, play cello.

Sure do...it helps fuel my ever growing addiction to home audio/theater. Right now, at the age of 21, I'm going to be running a Denon 3805, Paradigm Studio 100s, ADPs and center, in about 3 weeks

Not to mention, rock and everything else sounds better too

Interesting you said that. I used to be distracted by other people and the orchestra but not anymore. I just close my eyes and listen. I don't care if the person sit next to me think I am weird or not...I get a lot more music this way.

Oooh...Best piano concerto it Rachmaninov's Concerto #2...the one from Shine? Gorgeous and damn-near impossible to play.

Best piece overall? Mozart's Requiem.

Listen to a recording of the Prokofiev 2nd piano concerto. The first movement is mostly a cadenza that will blow you away.

Live concerts = cell phone ringing at the quietist moments, elderly man's hearing aide goes ballistic (pianist stops playing, stares him down, old guy in his own world - lmao), always coughing. Nevertheless, I enjoy live concerts. My favorite would probably have to be hearing pianist Evgeny Kissin from stage side seating (about 20 feet away) - incredible.

Yeah, in terms of live concerts, I'm soooo far behind this year and most of last year...late 2002 and early 2003, I saw a classical performance every 2 weeks, at least...I saw Joshua Bell twice, Itzhak Perlman twice, the Vienna Philharmonic...bah. nothing this year.

Love it. So far I have about 60 cd's worth (classical music is soooo cheap by the box set). Don't know any specific pieces, but I love studying, gaming, and sleeping to it.
