Oh yes, half the fun of getting married is returning most of the wedding gifts afterwards ;)

Registrys suck IMHO. I think they are increadably presumptuious ( horrible spelling! )

A registry or "registering a pattern" is when you go to a store, and they put your name in the system along with what you would like for gifts. Weddding gift buyers then go to stores where you say you registered, and pick out gifts baised on that registry. When someone buys something from the list, it is then removed so you do not get 2 of the same thing.

When I was at special services over the weekend, I had to print a few for customers. Keep in mind I work at Home Depot :) one of the ones I printed did not have anything under about $300 on it. It had a riding lawnmower, huge toolsets, patio door, ect. on it. The guy I printed it for was all pissed, and instead got him a $50 gift card :)

the only thing i hate about registries is that the bride and groom can look and see what they are getting. I suppose they would be on the honors system, but i think it would be better if they couldn't find out or something.

A gift registry is a good idea, but only if used properly. Registering for only expensive stuff is a bad idea. You are supposed to register for a range of things. The idea is that instead of receiving a ton of mis-matched plates and silverware, you can coordinate everything. I would never register for a riding lawn mower though. That is absurd.

The whole point of registering is so the bride and groom can pick out things that they need and want. Damn, I would have loved to go to Home Depot, lol. Although I did end up getting tools and toys I wanted when we returned 40% of our gifts.

Except the turkey gravy boat, not one store we went to would lay claim to the fact that they sold somebody a turkey gravy boat. Hah! FS/FT here I come!:)

My parents went off the registry when buying a wedding gift for one of my friends - she gave them a really nice Sake set. :)

I was going to tick off the bride and get my buddy an X-Box... :D

i realize that. what i meant was...hmm ok here is an example.

My bride and i register at target. ok we register all the stuff we want and it gets put into their system. a week before the wedding, i log on to Target.com or the little machine in the store, and find out what i am getting as wedding gifts.

It shouldn't be that easy for the bride and groom to cheat and see what they are actually getting from their registry. know what i mean? but there really is no way around it, so the honors system would be in place.

did i clear that up?

Oh.:p Kinda like going on a present hunt the night before the party.:)

What was funny about our registries, three of them for a wide amount of choices, was that after the wedding we got printouts of what went back to where. There were only 2 or 3 items purchased from each place.
