In summary: * Recent European research showing that ingesting aspartame leads to the accumulation of formaldehyde in the brain, other organs and tissues (Formaldehyde has been shown to damage the nervous system, immune system, and cause irreversible genetic damage in humans.)
* An extremely large number of toxicity reactions reported to the FDA and other organizations
* A recent report showing that nearly 100% of independent research has found problems with aspartame.

So, what are your experiences with aspartame poisoning? I know someone who started to have severe intention tremors after prolonged use of diet soda, how about you?

You're getting medical advice from a HOLISTIC medical website? Why don't you go to a REAL chemist or nutritionist and ASK THEM?

That site is complete and utter bullsh!t.

A disfigured sense of reality, irritability, irrational fondness of foreign vehicles, procrastination, trysexuality, narcissism, sore ass, squinty eyes, sick sense of humor, consistant miscomprehension of the opposite sex, barbecue aroma, and paranoia are some of the majors. ;)

I drink about a gallon of caffiene-free diet pepsi every day and I'm much less skurred of it than this nasty shythole. :D

Well so far no links on that site provide any actually evidence to contradict the allegations that aspartame can cause illness. They said fenfen and cox2 inhibitors were safe too, that doesn't make it true. If a four month long study is all you have to point at, your evidence runs thin indeed. In real life people are drinking this stuff for years on end, and taking other medications to boot. The rest of the links there were just a bunch of "the FDA says it safe and they're always right" links.

If you don't like that source, check pubmed.

Aspartame and its effects on health: independently funded studies have found potential for adverse effects.

Unlike global warming, the evidence is sparce enough here to leave room for controversy. It may be that aspartame is safe for most people who are not phenylketonurics, but that there are other subpopulations that shouldn't take it, or that people on certain medications should limit their intake. Studies that have yet to reveal a danger don't automatically mean that it is safe, it just means that those studies didn't turn up any evidence of danger. It doesn't help public perception that most of the articles on the subject are either extremely biased one way or another or cost a bunch of money to get access to.

OK then, so why isn't there any proof positive that delicious aspartame is dangerous? Even if there is any toxicity, it's probably negligible compared to other dangers out there.

BTW, your poll is biased because there are two negative options.

People have been saying this about aspartame for 20 years - don't you think that one study could by now, if there were any effects, prove this link? After 20 years of this this FUD, don't you think that someone other than a medical nutjob could provide proof?

I also love it how you give me a publication but no link to access it. Great job

I've probably ingested a ton of it and I'm not aware of any bad effects except perhaps an addiction to ATOT.

The minute you see the word "holistic" you should KNOW they are full of sh!t.

When will people stop blindly believing these urban myths?

I have thoroughly and completely destroyed the myths surrounding Aspartame on this board time and time again. Just do a search for my name, and Aspartame in both current, and archived threads.

So I see two threads by the OP. One asking if we should change the MPG standards and this one (didn't search, just noticed).

Perhaps you should visit P&N.

Yes. Genital lesions and facial scarring, not to mention all of those compounded with the milk I've been drinking. I'm basically dying, and it's all because of aspartame, milk, and flouride in our water.
