poll: do you hit on girls out of the blue?

i mean like, say you're just walking around and you see a hot chick walking the other direction, would you stop and talk to her? or do you only hit on girls when you meet them through friends, or at a party, in class, or some other less random scenario? just curious... personally, i can only do the latter, the former is just too weird for me.

Example: These construction workers who are on their lunch break sits on the sidewalk hitting on every decent looking girl that passes by.

I often talk to women I do not know in bars. I usually say "Can I buy you drink if I promise not to ask you for a date" or something like that. I am letting them know the drink does not have any expectations attached to it. Usually the woman will stop and talk for a while. I've gotten to know a number of women that way. Also they usually buy me a drink.

all you need to talk to girls is a good opening/ice breaker.. then you just follow suit with vague/broad questions and if they don't immediately hate you, they'll do most of the talking for you..

I ask questions about what they do for a living and what their interests are and listen to what they say.
