POLL: Do you have involuntary limb movements when sleeping?

My legs kick/move around a lot when sleeping.
It seems to happen to me right before I completely fall asleep because I'm aware of it, and it wakes you up and you're thinking WTF did I just do.

For instance, once I was falling asleep in class, and right before I was completely knocked out, I involuntarily kicked the chair in front of me.

Or if I'm dreaming about playing basketball and shooting a jump shot, my legs will move in jumping motion.

It's really weird, in a funny way.

I dont know. I'm not entirely sure what my body does when I am asleep. Which is normal from what I understand. Next time I wake up I'll ask the person sleeping next to me if I had any limb movements while I slept

Edit for grammer

my legs jump.

the calf muscles experience what i can only call the opposite of a charlie horse. I have had it most of my life and got it from my dad who has suffered for most of his life. it is so painful it can bring me to tears of frustration.

whenever i told a doc about it... they were stumped and some even thought it was a mind thing.. recently, there are all kinds of studies into this... and it is now called Restless Leg Syndrome.

:)

Wow, you too huh? Always wondered what was up with that. Hasn't happened in quite a while, but man was that painful... wonder if there's a name for that too? Besides crazy :)

it happened mostly when i started doing lots of running biking. probably has something to do with muscle development. only happened to me when i was a teeenager.

I talk and wave my heads/hands/legs furiously when sleeping. Sometimes I'm semi-consciously aware of it and yet I continue to do it

I thought during REM your body essentially paralyzes itself to keep you from hurting yourself. No links...I just vaguely remember hearing/reading about it.

Hoping someone else has more info.

Just the limb between my legs moves involuntarily during the night.

It's called being dehydrated and getting cramps...
