Yup have 2 of them. One's a Plextor PX-716A and the other is a Memorex F-16. My old Pioneer slot load DVD drive bit the big one and decided to get another DVD burner to replace it. With the drives being so cheap, just made sense.

I have 2, one lite-on LDW410 flashed to LDW411 in the HTPC, and a Lite-on SOHW1603 flashed to SOHW1633s. I need to get another black Lite-on for my main rig, because I miss having two burners int eh same PC.

I would've bought one if I still use my home desktop...

Now I basically just use my work laptop exclusively

i haven't bought a burner or dvd player or plain old cdrom in a couple years

so yes, when i buy a new 5.25" drive, it will be a dvd burner, but the ones i have still work

same here, last optical drive I bought was a CD-RW almost 4 years ago. I'm not a pirate, and don't have huge amounts of data to backup, so I haven't really found a reason to buy one 'just because'.

Yes, in my primary PC and my server.

Pioneer DVR-109 in my primary and the DVR-110 in my server, both work great and I've never once had an issue.

That's the answer. I paid $9 for my 4x burner and the media is .30 cents a pop. Why would anyone not have a DVD burner? Even if you don't download and burn movies they're still very useful. It's too hard doing a system backup onto 700mb CD-ROM discs.

You either have a very old drive, crappy media or you have some settings in your software wrong. Burning a movie in an hour is 1x. At 4x it takes close to 15 minutes. At 8x under 8 minutes.

Now I thin kback and I shoudl have added an option on whether you had a dula-layer Burner or not. Oh well. Guess we'll save that for next time. THe drives are really cheap but the media is still expensive so I just stick with the normal kind.

One in the main rig

One in the Second Rig

Wife still has a CD burner (and DVD ROM)

Looking @ getting another for the main and then they will trickle down.
