I know I don't. 5 hours a night plus a 30 minute on the way home nap is all I get. Except on weekends I try to make it up a little bit. And those naps sure help me a lot.

The average adult should get around 8 hours of sleep each day, if you continue your habit of sleeping only few hours a day, you will pay for it later on, i.e. slow reaction time, not able to concentrate. If that happens to you, you will scream "stuff sux!"

nope....not normally. I went to bed last night at 3, woke up at 8:50 for work at 9. On weekends I go to bed around the same time and wake up at like 1. So I try to make up for it as much as I can, but it doesn't always work so well. If I have class in the afternoon, starting anytime betweeen 2 and 4, forget it. I will fall asleep, no question.

late.

I go to bed around 1 and get up at 7. It is only the first week of the semester and I am already tired. Hopefully I can start to get to bed sooner (11 or 12), but with 19 hours of classes and 17 hours a week of work, I am hurting.

A few of semesters back, during the summer, I averaged about 5 hours a night, some days going on 3-4. After a month or so of that, I strted shaking. It was like I had drunk too much coffee or something, I was just jittery ALL the time. That certainly sucked. Since that I put sleep a little higher on the priority ladder. I will probably get 7 a night once my schedule catches up. Trust me, lack of sleep is not cool.

Do I get enough sleep? Yes.
Do I feel like I get enough sleep? No.

Most of the time yes.
Depends on how late I play UT or whatever.
Work at 3pm.
Get out at midnight.
I probably get too much sleep.

With school (studio is evil) and Anandtech, definitely not. I'm definitely paying for it now. I can't remember stuff, I have slow reaction times, I never feel rested enough to get a good lift in and it's hard for me to understand what's going on in other classes. But then again, it's a necessary evil, studio is my core class, I'm in there 24/7. If I'm in Pittsburgh, 95% of the time, I'll be in studio... sucks.

NO I'm not getting enough sleep... and damnit, I don't see a light at the end of the tunnel. I'm not sure why I'm still in this major... maybe if it was a different school, I'd be happier...

high school student who only gets 4-5 hours of sleep each night :(

does it matter at what time you sleep as long as you get 8 hours? for example, is it better to sleep at 10pm and wake up at 6am rather than sleeping at 1am and waking up at 9?

Definitely not. I got about two hours of sleep last night because I wrote a theme paper for English. In the past three nights I've had maybe 14 hours of sleep.

Thing is, on Saturdays I have to be up at 5:30 for work and on Sundays 9:00 for church. lol Now I consider waking up at 8:30 "sleeping in."

Stay up until 12 doing HS homework. Wake up at 5:45 to catch the bus. Not enough at all, but I make up for it on weekends. :)

Actually sleeping at certains times does matter because of your biological clock. I heard that high school students should wake up later and sleep later than elementary school students. Which is currently the other way around in my township, the highschool starts school earlier and lets out earlier than the elementary school. But this is because of sports programs and other after school activities... and teh buses...

Good question Nero. I think so. I've slept from 6 AM to 11 AM and felt almost as groggy as if I hadn't slept at all. But last night I fell asleep in my chair at 3 AM and woke up at 5 AM, and I felt ready to go on my essay. Of course, 20 minutes later I was fighting sleep again, but whatever... :D

Hell no :/

I get about 6.5 hours of sleep on a school day and on Friday I get like 3 hours of sleep (when I LAN) and then I get like 9-12 hours cause I sleep in on Saturday nights ;)

Nero, the time that you sleep isn't as important as going to bed and getting up at that same time everyday.

I'm not saying that the time that you get 8 hours isn't important...it is. It's just that adhering to a strict pattern is much more important.

My father goes to bed at 10:20 every night of the week. He wakes up at 4:20 every morning refreshed and ready to work. This past Christmas he stayed up till 2:00 AM with us and got up at 8:00 AM. He was tired all day. Same amount of sleep, but shifted 4 hours off.

Sleep? Who is he?

Heeheehee...let me give you an idea of how I sleep:

#1

Me: "Well, lets go and get a late dinner"
Friend: "LATE DINNER?! DUDE! IT IS 4:00AM!!"
Me: "Oh? That early, eh? How about lunch?"

#2

Me: "*Grumble*.. D@mn dogs, wakin' me up in the middle of the night...*phone rings* -- Hello?"
Dude on phone: "Hello sir! Would you like to enter to win a lifetime supply of Oscar Meyer Mega Wienies? All you have to do is sell your soul to blah blah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah--"
Me, cutting him off: HEY! MISTAH! Why are you calling me at this UNGODLY hour?!! "
Dude on phone: "Uhhh...sir...it is 9:00am...uhhh..err..."
Me: "YEAH! 9:00am! THE NERVE, WAKING ME UP AT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT!"

There. A normal day for me. :D;)
