POLL: Do you format right away?

I usually build my own as i'm sure most of you do.

However, when you buy a laptop or a new premade computer, do you just configure what they give you (uninstalling whatever crap/omgaol! they stick on there that you obviously dont want), or do you format right away and put on only and exactly what you want.

Your thoughts and comments...
 
Ahh, I just got a new notebook, and I;ve been too busy to do it right.

It's gonna by fun nuking it.
 
i havent bought a computer in a while, but i would just reformat it as soon as i got it. I would probably also delete the dell diagnostic partition.
 
Ghost & format

Sometimes if something goes wrong, I load up the original image , and if its still there.. i know what the prob is
 
When I bought my laptop earlier this year, I goofed around with it for a couple of hours to see how everything worked. It's my first laptop so the "wow, this is cool" factor was there and I just wanted to play around with it. But I formatted the day I got it.
 
Home or school computer gets formatted right away so I can put on a different OS that I didn't want to pay for ($5 and free university license depending on location). Work computers I leave as is - we stay legal and don't put on a different OS that we didn't pay for. So the work computers just get the crap deleted.
 
happy to see most of you think like me :thumbsup: My girlfriend just purchased a new laptop and I'm about to set it up for her, and I was almost thinking about just deleting the extra junk... but no, i'm goign to format lit like i would my own.
 
I believe the poll is missing a "I only purchase machines that offer an option to forego an operating system being preinstalled" choice.
 
I never buy prebuilt PCs and don't have a lappy, but if I did, and it was mine & not someone else's, I would format.
