I bought a portable CD player a couple days ago and the sales girl sure wanted me to buy the extended warranty. Do they get any money for this?

Almost always pure profit, but the sales people see none of that money.

that is not 100% correct. a buddy of mine worked @ BB and got a 10% bonus of every EW he sold.

wtf...when i worked at best buy i got no extra percentage from selling warranties. they just wanted us to sell them cause they are 100% profit and to boost psp scores and get our best buy higher rankings.

<edit>
I should also say that a well known huge company spends 67 cents for every $100 in EW's sold doing repairs and replacements.

When was this? During my time there I would sell 150-200 service plans per month at $100-200 each and received absolutely no kickback nor did anyone else employed there. However, management does receive a percentage of each service plan sold in their department.

he quit about a year ago. It may have been something in his district or his store manager or something. I will ask him next time I talk to him.
