I was very surprised to find out my friend eats rice with a spoon. I wonder how many others do it.

When chopsticks are availalbe and it's sticky rice, I use them. I don't go out of my way to, though. Fork most of the time.

it has to be the kind that sticks together a little.

I can't imagine eating rice w/a spoon.

sticky rice = chopsticks

otherwise, I use a fork or a spoon (whichever. I have no preference). if the rice is cooked so that individual grains are easily separated, there's no way I'd be able to use chopsticks.

It depends. If I'm eating at a Chinese restaurant or Sushi restaurant I use chopsticks. If I'm eating a curry rice dish I've prepared at home I use a fork.

i'm proficient with chopsticks but still prefer to use a spoon for scooping up things and eating really quickly. the rice we cook is non-sticky and dry so spoon works well too

i can't imagine eating rice with a fork... seems extremely awkward
