Hmmm...I'd disagree.

A conversation would probably take more focus than texting, which is more often a one-way affair

Anyhow, add another benefit to cars with standard transmissions: They keep your hands full so you can't find things around the car to distract you.

I have a full qwerty keyboard, so when I am sending email while driving, I can basically do it one-handed. I usually only ANSWER messages that are sent, though, and when traffic is light enough to actually do it.

Nope. Sounds stupid and dangerous (or my driving/multi-tasking skills suck). I have a friend who does it while riding a motorcycle though. Hurray for T9?

I've done it a couple times, but its a PITA in the city, cause you have to shift all the time.

I've seen people reading books while driving. I equate them at the same level of idiocy as someone who text messages while driving.

Same goes for applying makeup...

Reading the paper...

Leaning into the backseat to smack your offspring...

And countless other stupid fvcking things that take your complete attention off the task of piloting a 4,000 lb projectile down the road at 88.02 feet per second.

No. I usually won't even answer if I don't have my headset on. One hand to shift plus one hand to steer leaves no hand to use the phone.
