someone mentioned the other day they saw a lady texting while driving

is this common? seems like this is more dangerous to do while driving than talking, especially with a headset

I don't text message ever, unless you count the AIM -> Cell phone text messages I send sometimes. I have them blocked permanently from my cell phone until the carriers pull their heads out of their asses and start chargining them at a rate 1% of voice since thats how much bandwith is used.

No, but then I don't rework my job resume or do much spackling while having sex, either.

Multitasking is overrated.

no. at least not while driving.

my roommate used to insist that texting someone while driving was less distracting than talking to someone on the phone while driving... I think he's a retard :p

Never really understood texting. If I want to talk to somebody I talk to them. Hell of a lot easier then typing it out a message on a phone.

I have before. I generally try and wait for a good opportunity, like a light, though.

I've done it before. I seriously don't recommend it. I only do it when I have to and only when I'm on flat roads/highway.

I've done it once. That was all that it took to make me realize that it's stupidly dangerous. I see some people doing it almost every day I drive though. Very worrysome.

Sure, but if the car is in motion I won't look down. I'm pretty good at texting without looking nowadays. I won't send without proofreading, and I won't proofread until the car is stopped (or with a LOT of room on a highway)
Unsafe? Probably.

I don't send text messages at all, usually. I have a Blackberry through my job, so I don't bother with texting...I send full emails!

It is dangerous, though.... If it is normal, everyday traffic while on the interstate, it's not too bad, but in rush hour...it is pretty dangerous.

I would tend to think otherwise.
