im not overweight, got a little pudge of a stomach, which just looks weird seeing as I have a skinny frame. but with PT 3 days a week, I am slowly getting into better shape, and with the right nutrition coming in, and additional gym visits on my own, I shall be in shape by winter, hopefully. lol

the run today kicked my ass, although it was mostly a pysche thing and not physical.

Yup. I could stand to lose some weight.
218, 6'5"
I run 3 miles for fun, but that run just isn't cutting it anymore. Gotta start going for 5 miles.

Ill admit I screwed it up, and it wasnt on purpose. But now that I think about it, it is kind of funny. And watching them pick at it made me chuckle even more.

Yes. But I'm working on it. Over the past 4 months I've lost 10lbs, and gained about 20lbs in lean body mass(muscle). I'm at 206lbs right now, I'm aiming to be under 200 by new years if not before. 180 or less is my ultimate goal.

See, already we have a problem with our subject matter.
I dont lump fat in with being out of shape.

I know I'm fat.
I also know I can jog 3 miles a day for a month straight and not develop shin-splints.

Have taken to swimming lately. Supposed to be a much better and full-body workout.

I'm lean, but out of shape. been noticing shortness of breath lately for normal activities. I don't eat healthy, but am going to start running today. Going to start out at 1 mile 3-5 days a week and increase distance from there.

This should be good for getting into decent shape and attacking the onset of love handles, no?

Not to be critical but if you havent been doing much of anything lately (including a good diet) you may find one whole mile to be a bit of a butt-kicker. I know I did.
Recommend some good, long walks to get your feet and legs accustomed to the impact.

Fat != out of shape...

I am fat, but being in shape means having muscle, being able to handle physical exertion (i.e. play a friendly game of football, swim 100m etc). I know lots of thin guys who can't run 1 mile.

No critical is fine, any advice is good. Last year I started running and was able to go 1-2 miles from the start so I'm not worried about that. I just hope it's enough to combat my slowing metabolism. I'm 24 and hope to pick up some good habits before it's too late.

I'm 27 and am very glad the Navy was able to instill some good habits before it was too late.
As a newly freed civilian I have more appreciation for things like Credit Scores, Savings, aerobic and anerobic excercise, nutrition and many other life skills.
Sometimes I wish I could go back in and PT with my old friends.
Then I remember that Navy healthcare sucks and I snap out of it.

I can ride my bike 100 miles in a little over 6 hours so no, I'd say I'm not out of shape.

Now are you talking about a bicycle or exercise bike or are you talking about that harley you were considering? There is a difference you know ;)

If thats the case, I can do 100 miles in one hour in my ford escort.

According to the govt's 'ideal' weight standards for someone of my height, I'm overweight. According to them, I should weigh 160lbs, and I currently weigh around 175lbs. Never mind that I can run my 1.5mi in around 10min, run for over an hour steadily, push out 60ish pushups in a minute, and 60 situps in another minute.

I consider myself in decent shape, but I do want to lose a few pounds.

6'0 and 170 pounds.

Strongest pound per pound that I've ever been. Cardio wise I'm "ok". On good days I can run two miles with little effort. On bad days it's a challenge. I can bike like a madman though. I hope to be able to run 5k's competitively by next spring.

Vitals are in excellent ranges.

So no, not really out of shape.
