Maximizing windows typically eats up too much of the screen. I'd rather be able to get some work done.

You have multiple desktops; who wants to cram windows together?

I keep mine maximized on a 1400x1050 19".

Wow! I always do windowed - I didnt know so many people did max! I have 1280x1024 but that isnt that unusual these days...

Maximized on both my desktop (1280x1024) and my laptop (1280x800). I absolutely can't stand not having the window maximized.

Max 1600x1200

i run dual 1600x1200 have opera maxed on 1 monitor and have teh work on teh other monitor

When I'm in bed watching a movie, sometimes I like to watch and surf the forums at the same time, so half on top is movie and other bottom half is Internet Explorer.

If you've got the real estate and resolution to back it up, then why would it not be acceptable to NOT maximize it? I mean the resolution is so high, part of IE is going to be white empty space anyways. Depends on how you use your computer I guess.

I use roughly 7 virtual desktops. My mail client is usually the only thing maximized. At work, I have 2 monitors, my real work is maximized, and everything else gets windowed.

I'm just wierd like that.

Max at home on my 17"
Windowed at work on my 21"
That way, it's easier to switch to a different app in a hurry.😉
