nice to see so many people who have talked to all 20 million plus Iraqis and can make an informed decision. I can only go by the public opinion polls being conducted there, sorry to burst your bubble but their opinion is far more relevant.

What do they say, they are free and gratefull to the US, and they want us to stay there until they can take over power.

they have already done so in some areas and are constantly doing more, thankfully the Kurds have lived basically free for the last 12 years and are helping lead the way.
They will have a rotating presidency for now, one month of power for 9 representatives.

truckdriver we have killed hundreds of them, and have many more in custody, there were dozens of dead AQ all over that terrorist camp up north alone....

Before the war, people polled and asked if they loved Saddam would say, what? They loved him!

After the war, people polled and asked if they loved the US would say, what? They love us!

You always love the man holding the gun when asked. At least to his face.

I have no faith in any poll in these circumstances.

BTW, most of the people may have been happier if the USSR had liberated them from Hitler. Did that mean they loved Stalin? No, it would have been the lesser of evils to them. They are glad to have Saddam gone, but that does not mean they want to be occupied by us. We are tolerated because we provide order, without which they would be worse off than with Saddam. Once things get better, I expect they will want to show us the door like they did with the Brits after WWI.

Except the US army did not conduct the recent polls, there was no gun involved. Under Saddam protest led to death, do you see them not protesting out of this same fear? No they are more than comfotable speakign their mind now, they understand the difference, I am sorry you cannot.

maybe you should read the polls, they made it very clear they want us to stay until they can take over, then they do want us out, unconditionally.

I understand perfectly how people act under constant threat of death through violence. They have no reason to trust invaders. The last sentence I agree with, and said as much. "We are tolerated because we provide order, without which they would be worse off than Saddam."

They do not see us an invaders though, you do.

They understand they are now not under that constant threat, they can speak their mind, say what they want, protest in the street, go up to the American soldier and call him whatever he wants, and they do this everyday. But they didn't under Saddam, they know they are free now. From your logic Saddam will still get 99% of the vote in the next election.....

Why don't you back this and the previous statement up with some credible links please. Thank you.

The UN officials have also expressed alarm at a reported rise in rape.

Nothing you linked to shows any statistics that say that rape and child drug abuse is higher than pre-war levels. One statement by some anonymous citizen does not prove your argument. I'm also waiting for an answer about who's giving you your clues about the Iraquis feelings toward the US.

[Do] the majority of Iraqis prefer the tyranny of Saddam or the occupation and direction of the U.S?
They oppose both. No one likes to be occupied by a foreign power, even assuming they believe their motives are benign.

People want basic needs before asking for luxuary items.

before
1) have basic food and water, but butt raped by Sadam daily.
after
2) no food and water, and no butt raping either.

hmmmm... What good is freedom if you can't buy food with it?

We can remedy this if we can meet their basic needs as soon as we can.

I'm just going by opinion polls taken on the streets of Iraq, but WTF do they know compared to your "insight"...... The people of Iraq have spoken, they are happy we liberated them, and they want us to stay until it is stable, and then leave unconditonally. Maybe you should open your myopic eyes and read something other than the op-ed section of www.USASUCKS.com...

Ahhh....so where are your polls taken on the streets of Iraq? I do see a couple more dead American soldiers on the streets of Iraq, is that what you meant by the people of Iraq being happy?

You think they like being occupied and run by the US? Do you think they like having a puppet government set up for them? Maybe you should open your myopic eyes and read something other than www.shrubCoBitch.com....

No need to jump down my throat there buddy. I agree with you that the Iraqis are mostly happy that we took out Saddam. I would like to see those opinion polls though.

I don't think, however, Iraqis are happy with the way we are doing things there. I only say that because of the things I've read from actual Iraqis (Salam Pax, Ishtar, etc.).
