I was looking for my nice gray and checkered socks that are pretty much my favorite pair of dress socks. I found one. The other one is just _gone_ somehow. I went for the backup pair... only one of those.

How does this happen? After a thorough examination of the laundry room I could find no evidence of the missing twin.

I voted "Yes," but I rated this thead 0 for your lame and not funny Super Bowl reference. The only thing more annoying than Patriots fans a month ago is anyone who mentions the Super Bowl after the following Monday.

Not to threadjack, or anything. :)

The Sock Monster only chews holes in my socks, doesn't steal them. For a while there, I would wash and dry my socks like normal. Once I took them out of the washer, there would be mysterious holes all over them.

I almost never wear socks so I think he leaves me alone for the most part.

Edit: I do have a beer monster though... When he's in a particularly bad mood I'll wake up and there won't be any beer left in my fridge and I always feel like he hit me over the head with the empties...

i used to have a pair of the most comfortable black socks i have ever had the pleasure of wearing. and then one day while sorting out laundry i noticed one of the socks had gone missing. its been over a year now but i still hang on to that other sock; holding on to the hope that one day his brother will turn up and they will be reunited once again. but truth be told; as each week passes and and i still see no sign of him... i die a little bit inside.

You might find it's hiding inside the leg of a pair of your pants.

That or the two missing ones eloped and ran away together.

You are correct. Somehow they get in the basket while it is running. You can tell because there usually is big wads of their poop in the "lint" trap. "Lint" is sock monster scat. You should wash your hands after handling it.

The socks are actually getting sucked under the agitator. That is how people lose socks, not from the dryer.
