The dictionary only makes mention of purgatory being a belief of the Roman Catholic Church. So it would seem you are correct in your above statement.

The idea that you "go" to hell or heaven based on if you're "good" or "bad" here is absolutely ridiculous.

"Good" and "bad" are realitive.

Before speaking out of your ass, get your facts straight. Purgatory was a made up concept used by the corrupt Church officials in the middle ages so that they could charge people money for "time off" in the purgatory. A Vatican council (forgot which one exactly) basically said it was garbage with no basis in the bible so it was done away with. Not even Catholics should believe in the purgatory anymore.

No, but then again i don't believe in Hell as being a literal place either, but rather the concept of Hell as a permanent estrangement from God. I'd say that's rapidly becoming a common (if not the mainstream) view for most Christian believers who aren't Bible literalists.
