Is it really caused by man-made emissions from burning fossil fuels, or a natural course of the earth's temperature swings over eons.

I think that, since it may be due to man-made emissions, we should be smart about it and learn to do things cleanly and efficiently just in case.

Natural climate swings. We're about due for another ice age and the global temperature always rises prior to an ice age.

I'm not convinced.
The scientific evidence is suspect.
But I don't deny that it is possible that our pollution has had an effect.

There are cycles of global warming and cooling. We are in a cooling period right now. Glaciers are advancing. That doesn't mean that there is abnormal long term warming now, and there is.

I think its pretty obvious that its happening...anyone who denies it is leaving in a dream world. You can't possibly think the way we treat the environment like sh!t is going to have no side effects.

I see the Greenpeace propaganda is working.

global warming exists, of course. it is a natural condition. but that process may be aided by emissions. that is relevant only so far as i dont really want to live on venus.

these threads really bring out the zealot greenies

;)

the planet works on really really looooong time cycles, a couple hundred years is nothing

just remember, dilution is the solution!

Yes a couple of hundred years is nothing. That's why you should be alarmed when temperatures change drastically on such a small time scale.

When Mt. St. Helen erupted, it spewed more harmful crap into the atmosphere than man (and woman for all you politically correct people) ever has. I don't believe it.

The majority of the scientists around the world who study it believe in it and the data for it.

Thats good enough for me.

Global warming is ridiculously overrated. Temperatures taken in so-called global warming polls are taken in major metropolitan centers.
This is a major bias because the rest of the world is getting colder.
It's true that there is a greenhouse effect in major cities due to pollution, but "global warming" in itself is a myth.

Where did you get this information from?

My calculations predict a spike in the Earth's temperature in about 5,000,000,000 years.

Mostly natural warming, but could possibly be slightly increasing due to green house gasses from humans.
