Do you back up?

I dont. I would not care if my HD died now (well...) or if a virus destryed everything. I dont back up b/c my back up would be huge.

the only thing IO would back up are improtant school docs.

not really. i have 900gb worth of crap. no way to back that all up. luckly that's spanned across 4 hard drives so if one goes I won't lose everything.

Yes, two hd's, important documents get replicated once a day on both disks

I have my 50 Gb drive in my laptop, the a 250GB external with music and some movies on it. Then I have a 160GB external with backups of the music that's on the other two drives.

yep, I run a fast Raid 0 array in my main PC so I need to back up regularly.

Important files, daily. Full disk clones, weekly. In Windows I use Karen's Replicator to do daily file backups:

http://www.karenware.com/powertools/ptreplicator.asp

For weekly clones I use BartPE with the DriveImageXML plugin (Ghost doesn't work on XP under Boot Camp on my MacBook):

http://www.runtime.org/peb.htm

In OS X I use iBackup to do daily file backups:

http://www.grapefruit.ch/iBackup/

For weekly clones I use SuperDuper:

http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html

Pretty easy, doesn't take too long, and keeps my system & data safe and secure :)

I backup about 1Gig of about 220 Gig.
I have most of the stuff on CD/DVD ... somewhere.

If I have a total crash i will have a nice clean install again :)

Usually if I download something that I even have a remote interest in keeping, it immediately gets transferred to my external hard drive. Usually once I week, I'll then burn all of my downloads and documents to dvd-rw.

Currently only have about 60GB on an external 250GB hard drive. If I ever get newsgroup access.. I may have to upgrade :)

I have no important files so it doesn't matter if I back up or not. It just wastes time (one way or another).

The very large files that aren't all that important I just stash away in one folder and don't back up. All the rest get backed up to an external HDD every few days.

i already have sperate partitions for all my stuff and the system partition. i back up things though more like once a month or two. i'm lazy. i back up to dual layer dvd+rw's. they're so expensive but get a couple and they last. just takes time. i only back up my school stuff. my music is on my ipod and for software/games, i have the original disks.

I voted that back-up's are the way of the future, even though I don't back up anything except for my Documents. Everything else is extra.
