lets face it, there are stereotypes on how somebody acts, based on how they look.

me, i'm dressed kinda preppy (or so i'm told), but i don't act like a prep.

i 'm not really sure i act how i look.


today i was wearing baggy pants, a polo ralph lauren sweatshirt. my hair is like 1/8" all around, and i have a goatee growing. so i don tknow what acting is associated with that. i've been told i'm a really nice sweet guy by a lot of girls, which basically means i'm never getting a girl to be attracted to me if my life depended on it. anyways.... you probably have an idea of what i act like now.

i dont need to waste my time acting a certain way just to please other people. i dress/act the way I want.

I think ppl dress/act the way they are most comfortable with.

I dress to be comfortable...I guess you could say from grunge to preppy.

Oh, and there was that goth phase I went through in H.S. (back in *cough*1989*cough*).

I don't think your appearance has anything to do with the way you act. I have to agree with cherrytwist that you dress for comfort and that doesn't necessarily represent how you act.

let me clarify.

i am not saying that people should act the way they look. i am not saying that all people act the way they look.

all i am asking is whether you (as an individual) act the way you look.

Because I am a "working" supervisor AND the head of the IT department (consists of 1... me) I have to change the way I act, but cannot change the way I look. This applies to work only. I am the head of the maintenance department and dress the part of a maintenance electrician (we manufacture garbage bags and plastic sheeting.) I have to go out on the plant floor and fix things; dirty, hot, messy things. Then I may have to go into the office and fiddle with a PC or jammed printer, set user permissions or sit in on a budget meeting. In the office, I feel out of place in my "grungy" work clothes, but I act professional. So, no, I do not act the way I look. It bothers me when I have to interview someone for a job and their first impression of the maintenance supervisor is this guy in dark, greasy clothes.

At home I dress comfortable, make stupid faces and noises at my kids and annoy my wife.

Err... I dunno - I don't any fit stereotypes. I guess I'm a computer geek at heart but I don't smell bad, wear long black coats, have a 12" beard, listen to grunge music, live in the dark and live on coke and coffee.

what part of my statement did you not understand? society holds stereotypes as to how people who look one way act. i'm asking whether you fit the stereotype. is this clear now?
