No more so than people that are intently attached to computers, cars, baseball cards, MMORG (whatever you call it), etc.

If my dog wants to lick me in the face, I don't mind (tongue kissing...ehhh, no fvking way). She normally only does it when she hasn't seen me in a while and I'm not heartless enough to brush her off when she's showing affection in her own way.

That being said, I also:

1) Let her sleep in the bed with me (under the covers if she wishes).
2) Sometimes, I let her sit in my lap while I'm eating at the kitchen table (she curls up in a ball and goes to sleep while I'm sitting down).

When I was about 9 I slept with a puppy. We had just gotten him along with another dog. He had a strange deformity, kind of like a cleft lip / palette. He cried all not long in another room and I couldnt sleep because of it. So I brought him in bed and he slept on my chest. A few whimpers but he was soon asleep and thankfully so was I.

He probably had other internal defects because he died while I was at school the next day. He was a white pit bull and I will never forget that puppy.

That was toutching. At least the poor thing got a good last night of sleep.

My little dogs lick me on the face all the time and I realy don't mind it. As somebody else said, just keep your mouth closed tight. They also sleep with us.

Yeah, it is pretty difficult to avoid the tongue of a determined canine. I just try to turn my face and shut my mouth and eyes, partially.

If that person is single, then YES, its disturbing.
If that person is married/kids, then its OK.

I don't love getting licked in the face but I don't freak out either. Mine can get on the furniture and sleep in my bed. The people that bug me are the ones that dress them up, take them everywhere, and name them Mr. Something.

I love my pets to death, and I cried like a baby when the dog I grew up with (she was 14 years old and could barely walk, move, breathe and eat, cancer ftl) was put down, but tongue kissing a pet is borderline beastiality, as far as I'm concerned!

I voted before I read the OP, if I could change it to "yes", I would.

It's very easy. A swift kick to the throat will deter most dogs. But if you don't want a dog jumping on you or licking you or anything like that, then don't have a dog as a pet. Simple as that.

no

what creeps me out is when people emotionally bond with a baby farm animal as a loved pet, raise it, & sell it for slaughter. 4H

i never let my pets eat 'human' food...only vet approved crap...and i usually buy the more premium stuff...its not too much more and it proves to be very effective (as far as waste management goes, lol) i'll spend a decent amount at the vet, but only when they are pups...shots and poop exams...etc...i dont really spend much on stupid crap like toys...some people buy their dogs clothes, how stupid...stuff that like i never buy...outside of nessecities (food, vet, houseing, sleeping material (soft stuff)...i only by chew toys and treats from time to time...

ive tounge kissed my dog before...big whoop o_O...most of the time i cant help it because he is so happy/agressive he just goes lick crazy...small dog btw...dachshund

i just had a dog die a while ago...i got upset...but after a day or two the emotional pain went away and now its no big deal...whereas with lost friends (human) its sometimes still hard to think about (after years) ...i think people who go crazy over a lost pet are a little over the edge...i can understand why...but life moves on...and pets are replaceable to an extent...

I dont know about you, but thats just creepy. Or can you defend this odd behaviour?
Yeh, that's getting close to beastiality.

No. I have a relative like that. They have also cremated every pet(cat & dog) they have owned for the last twenty years and keep their ashes on top of a display table in decorative wooden boxes.

As a general rule I find that single women with 3 pets or more tend to be a little too obsessed with their pets.

I wouldn't consider cremation a big deal. There are really three options; burial, cremation, or let the vet dispose of the corpse. Given the low cost of a cremation for a pet, I don't consider it strange for an owner with even the least emotional attachment to have that done as opposed to having vet dispose of it (which is probably done by cremation anyway).

I'm extremely attached to my pup, and it's not going to be fun to see her go. Does she lick my face? Yes. Does she tongue kiss me? Not on purpose (it's nasty -- like a warm piece of baloney). My daughter called our dog a "dog person" today. She says that some dogs are animals, and some dogs are "dog people". She's three in a couple weeks but has wisdom beyond her years. ;)
