I never got an allowance at all for chores or anything. Just wondering what everyone else got...

If I wanted money, I sold scrap metal, newspaper, shoveled snow, cut grass etc.

If I needed money for something it was usually given to me. It had to be something reasonable of course. It was sort of like my "allowance" added up and I had access to it when I needed.

yeah i got an allowance growing up, but it was contigent upon me doing the yardwork every week, keep my sht clean, and doing dishes every other night

yea i'd get $10 or $20 for doing an insane amount of work when i was younger.

all while walking uphill through a snowstorm, etc etc. but i started delivering papers when i was 10 or so, and pretty much always had some sort of job from then on. had to buy those Sega Master System games...

I didn't get sh!t. Me and my brother do everything around the house too. I was one poor ass mofo until I got me a couple of jobs.

I got a weekly allowance until I turned 16, My chores were taking out trash and mowing the lawn. When I turned 16, I was told no more allowance since I was old enough to work. So I got a job.

I would get a flat amount ($20 a week) for lunch money, and extra for certain chores, such as mowing the lawn or helping with household maintenance. Other chores like dishes or laundry were just kind of expected from me and were unpaid.

I grew up on a farm and my parents paid me for working in the barn. So, no allowance.
