Epson Stylus Photo R200, ready to go, complete kit = $99.00
Replacement cost for all six cartridges: $78.00 (or you have to compromise on color tone by using generic ink).

This certainly encourages consumers to just dump the whole thing everytime ink runs out.

This is a good example, but I'm sure we have a lot of other durable goods that are being used as disposable goods. What can you expect the outcome to be?

As a bad thing I can see the quality steadily dropping with an anticipation of things being used lightly then discarded and never ending landfill accumulation.

As a good thing, it keeps the manufacutring business going.

Overall, do you think it's good/bad for the society?
