I have a PVR250 and it has been nothing but trouble. First to last and everywhere in between. Forums are filled with people having horrible problems with registry editing and other kids of craziness.

Did your Hauppage product just work when you plugged it in? I'm curious if anyone has had any luck. I've tried two systems and two OSes and I get problems with both.

I'm going to have to reply a big 'ol NA on this one.

On second thought, I think my friend said his was a Hauppauge. He got one a couple days ago and it worked right away. May have been another brand though.

Have set them up numerous times - it's an absolute must to go out and get the latest chipset and video card drivers. And get the latest Hauppauge drivers & software.

When things don't work first try, it's usually the WinTV2000 app scans and recognizes all the channels, but cannot display them in the window.

So no?

It would be nice if the drivers that they give you on the CD would at least work.

How did you fix the problem with displaying the channels in the window?

Well, I could have said probably 4 yes / 2 no. Like one, the WinTV2000 screen showed nothing, I downloaded the latest chipset and video drivers, installed them, then WinTV2000 worked like it should.

I put in a pvr 150, downloaded the drivers from their website and it worked first try. I never use the CD if there are drivers available from the manufacturer's website.

No problems with the hardware itself on my PVR2-USB. Every time it switches computers it needs the drivers disc again which is really annoying, and the bundled software constantly crashes. Right now it's set up on a BG-PVR box and it hasn't had any issues.

250BTV worked out of the box. May have needed to download the lastest drivers/software, but come on, you can't expect them to recall all their boxes and press new CD's every time they release a driver update.

I started with a PVR-150 MCE. No problems. I later upgraded to a PVR-500 MCE. Again no problems. :)

I've had good and bad experiences with them. Seems to me like their older products are more reliable than their newer offerings.

Both my WinTV PVR-350 and my WinTV PVR 500 worked fine out of the box. On the other hand the Dazzle I used to have made my life a living hell from the moment I started using it.

A pair of PVR-150s has given me very little trouble. Getting BeyondTV to play nice with both of them was a little difficult at first, but after upgrading it to the newest version (then) available, all was well. I don't use their app, though...

i have had no problems when i first set them up to work with BTV, and had absolutely nbo problem running a 250 with MCE 2005 and a usb2 pvr from them too.
Just make sure you know what chipset it has and make sure you have the right drivers. Out of the box, and from machine to machine, never had a problem.

No, I'm not saying they should recall all of their product.

I'd just like for it to work out of the box on my system.

NO! Problems out the wazoo but don't read too much into this because the problem I had happened a few years ago. I bought a PVR250 and almost gave up on it, then got some updated ATI software and haven't had a single problem since. I have it in a Shuttle AN35N with Win2K and haven't jacked with the software in about a year... it works fine.
