Poll: Did you live off campus your 2nd year or later?

I choose to live in the apartments my first year. If I were to do it again, I think I would have chosen the dorms over the apartments.

I moved into an apartment right across the street from campus my junior and senior years (same apt). I am undecided whether i like the apt or the dorms better. The dorms were awesome cause I was friends with everybody in the floor, and we kept our doors open/unlocked so people would just stroll in whenever.

The apartment was cool cause we got nicer stuff (better sound system etc) and had a kitchen, and at one point set up a recording studio complete with full drum set and rocked out. Plus there was more room and a private bathroom (vs communal with the entire floor in the dorm).

If I had to go back, I'd do it the exact same way, 2 yrs in the dorm, 2 off campus.

I think you can go until your sophomore year before the chicks catch on and think of you as a dork.

I was secretly playing house with my EX to be.... it's been over a decade and my parents never did find out

i loved the dorms. throughout my college career (and even during the summers), i lived in dorms -- a total of 10 different locations.

if i have any gripe about dorms, it's the fact that i had to move a bunch of times.

the social experience off-campus is just not the same as in the dorms.

I moved off campus before my 4th year. I lived in progressively better dorms the first three years and then my off campus apartment was better yet. I both liked and disliked living in the dorm: easier to meet people but I hated all the noise when trying to study or sleep. By senior year, I knew enough people so that I wasn't relying on having to meet people at the apartment complex. If I had to do it again, I'd do it just the way I did.

only lived off campus my senior year and even that was in a college owned off campus house, we were not allowed to live off campus untull our senior year and even then only about 40% of the senior class was allowed to live off campus, you had to apply and be approved, based on grades and diciplin record with the school to get an Apt,

liveing off campus and in the dorms was equally fun

The only way to fly! Not only did I live on campus all four years, but I lived in a freshman dorm all four years. A lot more fun and social than the other dorms.

One of my first goals when I got on campus was to secure a job that offered guaranteed housing as a "benefit" so that I wouldn't have to deal with the hassles of driving to campus, finding parking, slum landlords, deadbeat roommates, etc.

I then used that job as a springboard to get another job which gave me a guaranteed single room (+$1000 off room and board cost!). Since I was already living in that building as an outbound freshman, I was offered the opportunity to stay in my building, which I gladly took.
