It's been since Christmas when we all discussed the Segway and I'm wondering if anyone actually sees it around?

I am pretty sure it was stated that it was going to be released in limited numbers to government applications, such as mailmen... and that it wouldnt be for sale to the public for quite some time, and for sale at a decent price for even longer.

I like the "I told you it was a POS" option.I've been saying that since they started the hype.
Thanx for the info it explains even more of my questionsOriginally posted by: tk149
From the official site:
"Segway? Human Transporter (HT) i and e Series models are available immediately for commercial industries and businesses. To be contacted by a Segway salesperson regarding quantities and pricing, simply fill out a business registration.
The p Series model for consumers is not yet available. In the meantime, consumers can register to receive newsletters, updated release information, and other news about Segway HT."
I would assume that since only the business (heavy duty) version is available, that you'd only see one in action at some big industrial site. Although I heard that some branch of the US Post Office intended to get a bunch.
Beware! Beware! I saw a gas station in Chicago (North & LaSalle) selling premium for $1.99. We can only expect to see prices go higher this summer. Suddenly a few thousand bucks for a machine that costs $0.05 per day to operate doesn't sound bad.
I can only speak for myself when I say that I think the technology has great potential just as you do, but I think the present incarnation of the Segway is a POS. Hey it's just my opinion but I'll still take my human powered MTB over it.Originally posted by: MacBaine
How can any of you say it is a piece of sh!t? The technology is revolutionary... even if it is in a scooter right now. In 10 years, we will see this technology put to much better use, and it very well may have a tremendous impact on our methods of transportation.

I don't concur with that analogy as I don't believe it will have nearly as profound an impact on transportation as the airplane did. However only time will tell and either you or I will have our opinion venerated when it does. Until then I respectfully disagree with youOriginally posted by: MacBaine

Calling it a POS is like calling the first airplane a POS. It couldn't fly more than a few hundred feet... much less carry anything too heavy... it was, for all intents and purposes, worthless... but it was not a POS.

What does Segway have to do with Steve Jobs?
