*****UPDATE******
Place #2 is even smaller than I thought, it's 12'X10' Saving $175 isn't worth it.
I'm going with place #1 unless something better comes along.
*********
I'm 26 and both places are the same distance away from work, I make enough so the price difference won't hurt me, but I don't like over paying.
Place #1
$850 a month rent includes utilities
Pros:
1. Right by the river so it has an awsome view, but I don't really care about the view.
2. I'm just renting a room so I can't have "friends" over too often, don;t even know if they can spend the night.
3. There is a maid that cleans up once a week.
4. Private bathroom
Cons:
1. Co-workers said river smells at low tide and area may flood
2. I'm just renting a room so I can't have "friends" over too often, don;t even know if they can spend the night.
3. Live with almost senior citizen owner that has something like 3 or 4 cats.
Place #2
$675 a month rent includes utilities
Pro:
1. Guy is same age as me
2. Rent is $175 a month cheaper, but is it worth it?
3. Can have people over since this is an equal rental
Con:
1. Guy is random dude off Craig's List
2. Bedroom is smaller by about the size of one full sized bed.**Update, its even smaller, only 10'X12'**
3. Share a bathroom and no maid.
4. Guy's ad said he needs someone to move in ASAP, makes him sound like a degenerate if he can't afford $675 extra for one month to find a good room mate.
I'm leaning in favor of place #1, but the flooding and stinky water thing kind of bothers me, but I guess that might be offset by having a larger bed room.
Will having the maid once a week and a private bathroom off set my not being able to have people over any time I want?
