you may or may not care what i have to say but i am going to say it anyway.

although i must bow down to the team that created this (it looks good), all it is is counter-strike with different maps and gear, the gameplay is the same. granted i like counter-strike, but if i wanted to play counter-strike that is what i would play. this game looks nice, but it is the same old stuff. i honestly don't know why people are making such a big deal about it, am i missing something?

I think the gameplay is different enough so that it's legitimately a different game. In CS you can jump around a lot and the weapons are more accurate. In DoD you have the stamina bar which forces you to slow down and hide behind walls and such. In DoD there are a lot more unexpected deaths and camping is normal. The biggest difference IMO is that DoD has mostly capture all the flag maps while CS is team deathmatch. I still prefer CS though because I suck at DoD.

I prefer DoD since there seems to be less people in the game that are just there to ruin it for others. The stamina bar adds another element to the game, and overall I think the game is a bit more challenging. CS is a bit more polished but I think DoD has better gameplay overall.

CS has gradually decreasing momentum as you jump to prevent people from jumping like maniacs.

I think the key difference is the single shot rifles. They are deadly in DoD and commonplace.

i played a game last night and it seemed like a sniper fest. 60% of the people were snipers, it was just insane. but i only played one game, i like sniping but i hope it's not all like that otherwise it's not my type of game. i hate it when you constantly have to watch yourself because it's just too stressful. i dont play games to get stressed

Ive been playing dod for a while, well cs too, but then cs just pisses me off its all just shooting. Dod requires strategy and its not all about kills, its a lot of teamwork 🙂 I love dod 1.0, except they should have left bleeding in. Other then that the game is great, just give me my carbine and ill kick ass 🙂

DoD is terrific when the classes are limited so that not everyone can have the sniper rifle. I haven't actually played in quite some time (since before the mod when they added machineguns), but the game blows CS away when it's played like it's meant to, by teams. The player models complement each other, and some of the maps are fantastic. Spawn camping used to be a common problem on certain maps also.

The instant death nature of the weapons makes strategy all that much more important. Sure, you tend to die quite a bit sometimes, but it stops you from running full tilt into an area that you know has someone waiting. CS used to be a bunch of bunnies with sniper rifles and quickly lost its appeal to me, especially with the rampant cheating. DoD, while it has its share of cheaters, seemed to have a better share of team play and generally kept being enjoyable for me.

Plus, the fact that I could kill like a madman with the infantry player helped. 😉

you haven't played CS in match/league form, then. the game has changed so much that you have to have great team work to do well.

I'm to tired to write a long post so I'll just say that I agree with this post🙂

DOD kicks CS's ass. I stopped playing CS after I got into DOD. I don't see how you can say the gameplay isn't different.

Depends on the server though. I used to play on one server that did not allow any snipers and others that limited the number of snipers per team. Makes it a much more balanced game. I haven't played the latest release of DoD but used to play the heck out of earlier versions.
