My Mavs haven't won in L.A. in more than ten years. Would tonight be "The Night?"

I don't see how anyone but the Lakers can win the NBA championship--The talent there is frightening--Malone can play till he's 50!

Looking like Mavs could be on their way to their first win in 13 years in LA. Oh well, I guess the streak had to end eventually. Game was pretty much decided in the first 7 minutes when Steve Javie decided HE was the superstar and not the players. It has jsut been uphill battle after uphill battle since then for the Lakers.

i disagree for two reasons:

A) payton put himself in that situation by "throwing" the ball. was it tech worry? prolly not but he should know Javie is quick with the whistle and should have never put himself in that position

B) Russul and Rushs contribution more than compensated for a missing payton

There is no way he should have been tossed for that, not like he threw it at him. It was an underhanded toss. A ref should not be able to influence the game the way Javie did, especially that early. People pay to see guys like Gary Payton play, not Steve Javie officiate.

Russell and Rush got the Lakers back in it, but Gary's overall contributions have been missed. Dallas has zoned up LA, and slowed their offense. Usually Gary gets them easy buckets on the break, but he isn't there to do that right now. It's really slow the offense in the second half.

I'm actually glad this no win in LA in 13 years streak is over, at least they can stop talking about it.

i agree it wasnt really a tech but as a senior player, payton shouldnt even make Javie think about making such a call

Worst thing about Gary getting tossed was being forced to have Fisher playing long minutes. Dude is sucking out loud on both ends of the floor right now.

Lol, what's with all the "Dallas Wins" votes? If they couldn't hang on to a late 20+ point (I believe it was) lead last year what makes anyone think they can win this year? Dallas loses by 10-19.

i have no clue why they would hack a shaq with the offense no clicking

free points

edit: if mavs lose it should be blamed on Nelson and Nelson alone

Usually he makes Nellie pay for the Hack-a-Shaq, not tonight though. Still, only thing the hack-a-shaq did was make the game closer. It slowed Dallas' offense, and gave the Lakers a chance to setup their defense.

honestly, dispite paytons situation, it seems to me that the mavs out husseled the lakers, they were getting to the offense boards like there was no tomorrow

Just shows Don Nelson has absolutely no faith in his team.

I hope the NBA commish, Lakers, the Mavs players, and the fans themsevles speak out against this. No longer even considered basketball with all those fouls.

Credit goes to the Mavs players though, they earned the game despite their coach.
