Poll: Crucial or Kingston?

Don't really care about speed, since neither one will be a gaming machine. One is a Dell Dimension 3000 (has only 256 MB currently), want to upgrade with a 512 MB chip, for a total of 768 MB.

Other system has a Gigabyte GA-7N400L mobo, currently has 512 MB ram in it. Want to upgrade with another 512 MB chip.

After pricing both chips, Crucial seems to be a few bucks cheaper but reliability wise, which one would be better?

crucial..

i been having tremedous bad luck with the kingston values... 1gb modules failing, etc.. memtest mostly..

pay a bit more and get non value stuff...

Corsair has 512MB modules for like $45, so I don't think they're $15-20 more expensive. Just look for the Value Select ones. I'd say Corsair > Crucial > Kingston. Then again, they are all solid brands. It's like comparing a BMW to a Mercedes (or maybe more accurately a honda vs. toyota, since we are talking about budget memory). It's not like you'd regret either decision, and it's mostly a matter of personal preference. I'm personally using Crucial Ballistix memory right now, and it's sweet, albeit expensive ($115 for a 512MB stick), so I can attest that Crucial does indeed know how to make great memory.

Crucial are stable, reliable, offer great delivery and offer top notch customer service.

They would be my number 1 call for non-overclocking RAM.
