Decision time: whether it be the 5% on gas or 3% on groceries... or 1% back from everything else you purchase with your CC... say you earn back $20 in cashback money (basically free money)... would you:

A) Have them send you a $20 check (or otherwise credited in that amount)

or

B) Receive a $25 gift certificate to your favorite restaurant/store/etc. Other rewards are $40 GC to stores like Sharper Image (for the same $20 cashback).

Keep in mind you will be getting this $20 cashback reward many times throughout the rest of your life with the CC.

woops, meant to do half and half. Sometimes cash would be nice, but giftcards never make me feel bad about spending too much on dinner.
