In the interest of starting a good discussion about gaming, I've decided to make this poll to see which games you are looking forward to most this year. You can only vote for one, but feel free to discuss any others you can't wait to play. This poll encompasses the 3 major consoles. Thanks to the most current EGM mag for the games list.

The one I'm looking forward to most out of all of them is Gran Turismo 4. I endlessly played GT3: A-Spec, and got a whopping 73% complete before I tired of it. I had well over $5,000,000 in the bank, 63 (most rare or exotic) cars in the garage, all of the arcade beaten on every difficulty, all tracks unlocked in arcade, all of beginner circuit races beat in simulation mode, pretty much all amatuer circuit races beat, a few professional races beat, all rally races beat, all licenses acquired (even the S license), and 5 out of 10 endurance races completed. All races were won with gold medals, except the licenses, those are hard!

But Gran Turismo 4 all but promises online play, which puts it over the top. Here's to hoping they add many more cars (and not 'used' cars like in Gran Turismo 2) and completely new tracks. The recycling of tracks is getting old in the series, and I beleive they need something completely new. They should also definitely add support for a custom soundtrack to those who buy the hard drive when it's released.

A few others I can't wait to play this year (in no particular order):

Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker (just picked up the bonus disc this morning!)
Mario Kart
Star Fox Armada
Halo 2
Fable
Final Fantasy X-2

Mario Kart.
It has unlimited replay potential.

Hardcore gamers and newbie gamers can all play together. Girls play, guys play, everyone has a good time.

Zelda, Final Fantasy, Mario, etc... well they are grand... for the month that you play it. And then sometime the year after when you decide to play it over again for the heck of it.

I'm a fan of multiplayer games.

I'm still waiting for the details on Pokemon though. If it's an MMORPG where you can go around catching and dueling other people and then competeing in Nintendo hosted tournaments! :Q Fat chance of that though.

Edit. Actually I would take Mario Tennis over Mario Kart even. :p

Halo 2 without a doubt...BTW, check Bugie's FAQ...there's some new info such as:

-Destructible environments & lighting; w/enemies & friendlies taking advantage of it (splinter cell anyone! w00t!)

-New covenant races (concept art included in below link)

-Enemies AI improved w/ ability to hunt you down by climbing & jumping over obstacles & using flashlights to find you in the shadows. Improved communication & coordination between enemy squads.

-Friendlies AI improved w/ ability to use environment to hide, cooperate w/ squad better - calling in support from Warthogs & pointing out snipers, for example.

-Master Chief can sprint at double speed when necessary, plus can now peek around corners & has melee combo abilities.
Not to mention it will be the pinnacle of the Xbox Live experience. :Q

Great link kami. I read that yesterday, and gives some good info for those who uselessly blab about Halo 2 this and Halo 2 that, when they, in all actuality, know nothing about it. Halo 2 will be the reason to renew that ol' Live subscription, huh?

One thing I hope they do add is bot support. XBL is great, but playing with some buddies on a couch can be better. Would be nice to have the ability to toss in another few players.

No. It was orginally scheduled for a near-Christmas release, but was delayed to provide adequate time to beta test (which I am a member of :)). It's a good game, but one I more than likely will not purchase when it's released around the end of March. The graphics are nice with the cel-shaded look, but I beleive that's what turns me off. I don't have the feeling that the car is hugging the road like it should, which throws off the controls for me.

That WOULD be pretty damn cool. Too bad it will never happen.

I don't believe not adding bots is an option to them. That was one of the biggest complaints of the original Halo. The multiplayer was completely excellent, but sucked balls when you only had another person to play with. Not everyone had the option of linking 4 XBOX's together, and not everyone had the internet connection to run a decent game on the Gamespy Tunnel software. I only have 1 other friend who regularly played Halo, and 1on1 got boring.

Any good sites with GT4 news or previews?

According to the latest issue of Famitsu Magazine, Sony Computer Entertainment is planning a late 2003 release date for Gran Turismo 4 in Japan. This will be the sequel to Gran Turismo 3, which is hands-down the best racing simulation ever. No details were given on gameplay or special features, however, it was confirmed that GT4 will include network online capabilities.

"We are developing the game with a late 2003 release in mind. We are still in the process of working on the overseas version of Gran Turismo Concept, and plan to shift into the development of GT4 once we are done. It is still in early experimental stages, and we hope to have something running this year."
